COVID-19 Information

The health and safety of our students, staff and families are a priority at Liberty Central School District.  While COVID-19 is no longer classified as a pandemic, we remain committed to minimize the potential impact of the illness.

The district is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding COVID-19, per New York State Department of Health guidance.

Masks

Any student or staff member may wear a mask while at school to prevent the spread of illness. Mask-wearing is recommended for at least five days following improvement of COVID-19 symptoms and resumption of normal activities

Illness/Positive COVID-19 test

As with any infectious illness, students and staff who test positive or who show symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to stay home from school. They may return to school they have been fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving.

Testing

Testing is recommended for people with symptoms of COVID-19 as soon as possible after symptoms begin.

At-home test kits

The district will continue to provide COVID-19 test kits for students. If you need a home COVID-19 test, please contact your student’s school.

COVID-19 vaccination

COVID-19 vaccinations are not required to attend school. Children ages 6 months and older are all eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Children older than 5 are eligible for a booster.

Health and safety protocols

Routine cleaning in our school buildings continues to be an important strategy for reducing the spread of illness. High-risk areas such as health offices, classrooms, lunchrooms, athletic rooms, bathrooms and high-traffic areas are frequently cleaned, as are high-touch surfaces, such as lunch tables, desks, chairs, light switches and handrails.
